About Us


Oakfield House School is situated between Blackpool and Preston in Salwick near Kirkham. Oakfield is a country house set in eight acres of beautiful parkland and dates from the 1800's. The school is easily accessible from the M6, M55 and the M65. The pupils attending our school come from various towns in the surrounding areas. 


Oakfield House School was opened in September 1998 and is registered for 42 boys and girls aged 5 years to 12 years. The pupils in our school have a range of educational needs including Social and Emotional Mental Health Difficulties which have made it hard for them to cope with mainstream primary schooling. We also provide a unique provision for children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Children with Complex Needs in a purpose built facility attached to the school. 


The opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join Oakfield House School to complete a recognised Teaching Assistant Level 3 Qualification whilst also learning to work within a school environment and have a real impact on Children’s lives. Learners will build an advanced understanding of how to provide quality teaching and how to influence and support learners. Some of the areas of development include:


Contributing to the implementation of learning activities

Evaluating the performance of lesson plans and how to improve for the future

Working independently in teaching group and individual activities

Working in partnership with teachers to help support and deliver lesson plans and objectives


Entry Requirements


Oakfield House School will support you through your qualification alongside Busy Bees Training Provider and you will have a dedicated mentor within school.


If you cannot provide certificates for Maths and English, you will be asked to complete your Functional Skills Maths and English as part of the apprenticeship.


You will be expected to do some ‘off-the-job (OJT) training, and you will be asked to do 20% of your contracted working hours undertaking this training. Your OJT must be relevant to the apprenticeship standard and will be supported by our school to provide you with new knowledge, skills and behaviours required for the role.

Oakfield House School offers an outstanding & therapeutic educational approach, ensuring pupils who’ve struggled in previous provisions can settle, be happy, and make extraordinary progress in their learning.

The large 19th Century country house is set in eight acres of beautiful parkland where experienced staff provide pupils with innovative opportunities for enjoyment and learning beyond the classrooms, helping children re-engage with their education.
