Teaching Assistant

Farrington Gurney Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 1 with an Education Healthcare Plan and join our small, friendly, supportive and adaptable team. Knowledge and experience of delivering individual specialised support in a range of areas, along with experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage is highly desirable.

Ideally, the successful candidate should have experience of working with children who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder and would be able to support a child with:

• Language development in both receptive and expressive language skills.

• Social awareness and understanding.

• Participation in learning.

• Emotional wellbeing.

We require someone committed to inclusion and to want to make a positive difference. They need to be confident to scaffold the child’s learning and be prepared to encourage independence when and as appropriate as the child develops.

This is a temporary appointment related to the provision of special needs support in respect of the child and will continue pending a review of the Education Healthcare Plan or the child’s departure from the school if earlier.

The post is initially for 27.5 hours per week (term time only) Monday-Friday.
