Job overview

Farrington Gurney Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 with an Education Healthcare Plan and join our small, friendly, supportive and adaptable team. Knowledge and experience of delivering individual specialised support in a range of areas, along with experience in Early Years and Key Stage 1 is highly desirable.

The child has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and the main needs on his EHCP are classified as:

• Language development in both receptive and expressive language skills

• Social awareness and understanding

• Participation in learning

• Emotional wellbeing

The child will need an extremely tailored curriculum to reflect his individual learning needs. He will also need dedicated 1:1 support in order to access whole-class teaching sessions.

We require someone committed to inclusion and to want to make a positive difference. They need to be confident to scaffold the child’s learning and be prepared to encourage independence when and as appropriate as the child develops.

This is initially a temporary appointment related to the provision of special needs support in respect of the child and will continue pending a review of the Education Healthcare Plan or the child’s departure from the school if earlier.

The post is for 27.5 hours per week (term time only) Monday-Friday.

Completed application forms should be completed through the online portal of the TES website.

Visits to the school are encouraged. Please contact the school on 01761 452419 or office@farringtongurneyschool.co.uk to make an appointment.
