Job overview
To start September 2026
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to work in our School in Key Stage 1, supporting our younger pupils' learning in a collaborative and stimulating environment.
Our School
St Christopher’s School is an independent day prep school for approximately 260 girls aged 4 to 11. We are a joyful and ambitious girls’ independent prep school, known for our warm community, exceptional pupils and strong sense of shared purpose. Anyone who has stepped through the gates of St Christopher’s School knows that with its grand wooden staircase, bright open classrooms and constant sense of creativity and warmth, it is, quite simply, magical. There is a welcome balance between the girls reading and singing in the cosy halls of this Victorian house and playing and experimenting in our modern outside classrooms, mud kitchen and playgrounds.
Our staff aim to achieve a balance between creative imagination and academic thinking that spills out from our structured classroom environment into all elements of school life. We not only teach the girls to learn new concepts and problem-solving skills, but enable them to become analytical thinkers who, in all subjects, confidently push the boundaries of learning by asking questions that perhaps have yet to be asked. The happiness and wellbeing of the girls is at the heart of our culture.
Our Community
Kindness, thoughtfulness and inclusion are key values in our school. St Christopher’s is an ambitious and warm community created through an equal love of intellectual fascination and freedom of creativity. Just like our pupils, our staff are celebrated as individuals; they feel supported and challenged, they thrive and are encouraged to be the best version of themselves today and tomorrow. We have an extensive professional development programme and actively encourage colleagues to seek new challenges and training opportunities.
All staff contribution is valued and encouraged at St Christopher’s, whether in staff meetings, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion forum, or the Staff Consultative Committee. Admin and teaching staff work closely together, supporting our ethos of inclusion and transparency.

About St Christopher's School
St Christopher’s School is a non-denominational, independent day school for girls aged 4-11. It is located in Hampstead, North London, and has about 260 pupils.
The primary school was founded in 1883, with the earliest written records appearing in 1889 of a small class begun by an enthusiastic educationalist in her father's drawing room. This small establishment grew into a preparatory school known as the Hampstead Kindergarten and School.
Now known as St Christopher’s, the school changed from private ownership to a charitable educational trust in 1972. The trustees form the school’s Board of Governors.

Values and vision
St Christopher’s School aims to achieve a balance between creative imagination and academic thinking that spills out from our structured classroom environment into all elements of school life. We not only teach the girls to learn new concepts and problem-solving skills, but enable them to become analytical thinkers who, in all subjects, confidently push the boundaries of learning by asking questions that perhaps have yet to be asked.
St Christopher’s encourages independent learning by striving to develop a stimulating, child-centred environment where pupils are inspired and challenged. It encourages the values of trust, mutual respect, friendship and tolerance, and cultivates an environment in which pupils can grow into self-confident and responsible young people, ready to embrace the challenges of secondary education.
ISI report
“Pupils are extremely well educated. A rich, child-centred environment has been created in which pupils from an early age develop a true joy in learning in both academic and creative subjects. The school amply fulfils its aim to achieve high academic standards by inspiring, enthusing and challenging its pupils and encouraging independent learning.”
