The school:

Woodbourne Hospital School is an independent co-educational day school for young people aged 12 to 18 with mental health challenges. Our students are all inpatients at Woodbourne Hospital, which provides a CAMHS service across two wards. This is an exciting time to be joining the school as one of our wards moves to become a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) whilst the other remains a General Adolescent Unit (GAU) with our school having a total of 24 places.

We aim to recruit an individual who shares our vision of student-centred learning, framed within a progressive, exciting and flexible curriculum.

We are a collaborative and supportive team, focused on setting high standards for teaching and learning and our young people.

We would like to appoint an individual with relevant previous experience as either a Teaching Assistant or a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, who is confident and comfortable working in Key Stage 3 and 4. Experience working with Post-16 support is also desirable.  Secure knowledge and strong support skills in Maths and English up to GCSE is essential.

A CAMHS TA will be expected to:

• Support the activities of all curriculum areas in the classroom.
• Work with individuals and groups to support their learning in a variety of subjects, including the school's bespoke programmes.
• Provide for the general welfare and pastoral care of young people, including leading their induction into school following their hospital admission.
• Be self-motivated and liaise with colleagues within the school, working effectively as a member of the team.
• Provide support essential to the smooth running of the school, including liaising with external stakeholders and with Median Priory’s healthcare multi-disciplinary team.
• Be confident in the use of standard IT systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel etc. • embrace our culture of cross-cluster working with all Aspris CAMHS Hospital Schools.
