Unity College stands out due to its therapeutic model, offering a safe, secure, and friendly environment for pupils. As part of the Keys Group, we provide placements for students who live in nearby Keys Group homes. To effectively meet the diverse needs of our young people, we maintain a high staff-to-pupil ratio. Each class is staffed by at least one teacher and an educational support worker (ESW), ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

We have 2 Curriculums and 2 sites that include a Formal and Informal. Students in the Formal Curriculum are offered different specialist teachers who deliver learning whilst those in the Informal Curriculum have a model of delivery to fill in the missed gaps in early learning, due to trauma.

Our formal curriculum offers qualifications and subjects allow for progress into trades such as D&T, Food, Sports Leaders and the creative careers.

Aims

Our motto, "A route to a fulfilling future," reflects our commitment to providing a nurturing environment with a therapeutic approach that helps pupils become emotionally available for learning. We aim to engage students with a relevant, accessible, and appropriately challenging curriculum tailored to meet their individual needs at all levels.

Pupils

We support pupils aged 11 to 18 years who experience social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) and require a smaller, more nurturing educational placement to achieve their academic potential.

Areas of Expertise

We offer differing learning curriculums to allow students to move between learning and nurture opportunities depending on progress but also considering times of crisis. In addition to this, we track and support behaviour development and embed this through focussed analysis and individual target setting, as a whole school.

Our whole school approach to personal development is key to the success of your students in which we offer a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities to increase wider knowledge and to develop experiences. As part of this whole school approach each child has an opportunity to 'Make Memories' in which they can choose an activity, that they love or wish to experience,  and can access it with chosen staff.
