Overview

North Halifax Grammar School (NHGS) is a co-ed, state-funded grammar school with c1200 students (11-18 years), established in 1959 and operated under an Academy Trust since 2011.  Located within Illingworth on the outskirts of Halifax, Calderdale. Students sit entrance tests and come from approximately 90 primary schools.

The Trivium

The curriculum at NHGS is delivered through an approach known as the Trivium which is designed to facilitate challenge and consistent academic rigour. The term “Trivium” comes from the Latin for the phrase “where three roads meet” - and consists of three elements.
