Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teaching Assistant on a full-time fixed-term basis from April 2022.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious and heavily over-subscribed Catholic IAPS preparatory school in the heart of Hampstead. It is Roman Catholic but welcomes boys of other faiths. The majority of boys transfer to leading Independent schools. It was founded by Richard Patton during the Victorian period in Eastbourne. It moved to its Hampstead location in 1952 and has been managed by a renowned school group since 2009.

It achieved ‘Excellent’ in all categories of the ISI full-school inspection in November 2019 - the school is now pursuing an ambitious development plan incorporating digital literacy with outstanding academic, pastoral and co-curricular provision.

The school are seeking a Teaching Assistant to work as part of a strong team: to help teaching staff in the preparation of lessons, to provide one-to-one support for the children (both in an educational and pastoral capacity), to carry out supervision duties and to monitor and record (with the guidance of the class teacher) children’s development as appropriate. The school encourages initiative, and endeavours to provide ample opportunities for staff to develop their interests and utilise their personal strengths.

The Successful Candidate:

1. A genuine interest in, and enthusiasm for, working with children.

2. A hands-on approach.

3. A commitment to participating in the extra-curricular life of the school.

4. A sympathy for the Catholic ethos of the school.

5. An interest in developing professional competence through INSET.

6. A capacity for working as a member of a team.

7. Initiative and flexibility

8. Good organisational and communication skills.

9. Relevant qualifications and/or experience.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week, 8.30am until 4.30pm.
