Job overview

If you are an enthusiastic and highly motivated SEN Teaching Assistant seeking to join a welcoming and experienced support team, we would like to hear from you.

You will be required to work on a one-to-one basis, or provide in-class support to students in key stage 4 & key stage 5 who have a range of learning, medical or behavioural difficulties, though predominantly Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. We want to hear from anyone who has the skills and experience to effectively support our students. The role is demanding but rewarding. The successful candidates will ideally have experience of supporting students with these types of needs along with a relevant NVQ qualification in Childcare or equivalent.

Our Teaching Assistants work alongside the class teacher and the SENCO to deliver high quality learning experiences, which improve rates of progress for pupils. They also use their initiative and are proactive in supporting individual pupils across the class. Experience of delivering interventions to improve the development of speech and language and social skills are desirable. High expectations for all the children are essential as is the ability to demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills. The role requires effective communication and teamwork skills. In addition, successful candidates must be committed to all aspects of school life.

The position is fixed term until 31st July 2022 but could lead to a permanent role as the school continues to grow.

Crewe UTC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to satisfactory references and enhanced checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
