Job overview

As a Teaching Assistant at Meadow View Learning Centre, you’ll have a key role to play in the development of our pupils. We cater for students with special educational needs, which means they need more help than most. You’ll work with individuals, groups and classes, helping children learn and develop. Working to boost their self-esteem and encourage acceptance from others, you'll also support the teacher by monitoring pupils’ work. If your skills are well developed, you could take on more duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities.

With your previous experience in a Teaching Assistant role, you’ll have up-to-date knowledge of welfare and safety practice within education. You’ll also have the ability to work to specific goals with children, and a gift for building relationships with staff and pupils alike. Emotionally resilient and able to motivate students, you’ll enjoy being part of a team but work well independently too. Please note that you may be expected to attend meetings outside normal school hours.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. Through our aspirational homes, schools and ethos, we’ve achieved the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Reward
We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), comprehensive induction and ongoing training, full school holidays (including bank holidays), Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Cycle to Work and tax-free childcare vouchers. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

For an informal discussion about the position please call Lynne Knowles on 01524 833579

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
