Required from September 2019 The Halifax Academy requires a Teaching Assistant to work within our Communications faculty. The role will include supporting teaching and learning by working under an agreed system of guidance and management with a degree of autonomy. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups of students or short term for whole classes. The post older will be responsible for managing the library, supervising students using the library, managing stock through the Eclipse system and supporting staff with the AR Reader. 

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Work as part of a team but use their own initiative
  • Motivate and inspire our students
  • Use creativity and passion in their work
  • Form effective relationships with parents, carers and outside agencies
  • Be a positive role model for our students

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • improving learning and teaching
  • raising achievement
  • tracking students individual performance and implementing intervention strategies
  • supporting students with medical needs

The Halifax Academy is a high performing 4-16 all-through Academy in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. It was inspected by Ofsted in September 2017 being judged as good in all areas. Outcomes are outstanding at KS4 and place the academy in the top 15% of all schools nationally with regard to progress. Early Years Provision is good.
