Finham Primary School is a School in which children are equipped with the skills to be good learners and are inspired by high quality creative teaching.  Our vision is to nurture, within all members of the school community, a good level of self-esteem and to develop a positive and confident attitude to life-long learning.  We believe we can build on the foundations of earlier learning by encouraging children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, enhancing it with first-hand experiences.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and flexible Teaching Assistant, with a strong commitment to inclusive education, who is capable of working both independently and as part of a team in our friendly, dynamic and successful school.

The successful candidate will work one to one working with a child with Autism to help them achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

The post requires NVQ III or above and experience of working with children is essential and some early years’ experience would be desirable.

We are part of Finham Park Multi-Academy Trust and as such are committed to designing a 0-19 co-constructed curriculum and working across the child’s whole educational journey.

We are a vibrant ‘child centred’ learning community that is part of a family of schools in Finham Park Multi Academy Trust.

We want every member of our school to feel valued but most importantly, to be empowered to add value to our school and wider community. As such we have based our school ethos on 5 key values:

Teamwork– Together we can achieve so much more.

Respect– For each other, our school, our community and our world.

Integrity– Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Enjoyment–Being in our element and finding our talents.

Discipline– Having the self-control and determination to never give up.

These underpin everything we do and drive forward our vision to be:

A School in which children are equipped with the skills to be good learners and are inspired by high quality, creative teaching

We are proud of our unique, child centred curriculum and the investment in development of ALL staff in its planning and delivery. We have a strong leadership team with the Head an LLE, the Deputy an EYFS City Moderator and Lead Practitioner and strong subject leaders that work across the wider cluster to support school improvement. We are a Nationally Accredited AfA school and have International Primary School status through our work in Africa, America and China.

A School that is outward facing and is functioning as part of a cohesive community.

We are the proud primary partner in our primary and secondary MAT and are actively involved in school to school support and improvement. We are members of the Lion Teaching School Alliance, Key Partners in Coventry SCITT and support the Local Authority on Primary Steering. The headteacher is also the headteacher lead for the Coventry Education Sport Strategy and the school has a successful participation and inclusion record for the school sport premium with a dedicated Health Champion. The school works within the Finham Community, running community coffee mornings, Litter picking, planting flowers, visiting the church, working with the library, supporting walk to school initiatives and planting trees, to name but a few!

A Sustainable School, which helps children to care about themselves, each other and the environment.

As a Green Flag Eco School, we work to ensure we put sustainability and the environment at the heart of our work. We run training for other schools to support their outside learning development and the children are proud to be involved in the many sustainability initiatives that take place on a daily basis at Finham. We have an active school council and MAT council and events committee that work to create community events from Firework Nights to The Finham Festival.

A memorable Primary School with a Curriculum that is constantly evolving and reflects the context of the school.

As part of a whole school 6 week cycle, the curriculum is designed and developed by all stakeholders to ensure it has the best possible impact and ownership by the community. We work with Local, National and International Partners to help them develop curriculum content. (We have supported and written content for Engage! Coventry, Commando Joes, FROG Education and Create Develop.)

A Connected School which is making best use of technology to engage and communicate with ALL of its stakeholders.

We are an ambassador school for FROG Education and have worked to develop FROG Connect – a communication and collaboration tool for schools across the MAT to co-construct our curriculum. We launched this Nationally in June 2017 and at BETT 2018. We have an active Twitter feed @finhamprimary with 95% of our community, as well as many professional organisations, following our work and the work the children do.

Every child is unique, special and has talents way beyond our wildest imaginations. We want to discover, future and grow these talents and work tirelessly to create opportunities that stretch way beyond the standard curriculum and into secondary education so that we can all do our very best…no excuses!
