We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and talented professional to join and further reinforce our growing Inclusion and SEND provision team at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy. We welcome applications from candidates who have a passion for working with young people and families in order to improve life chances and opportunities; the skills needed to provide specialist support for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and the drive to provide specialist support to unlock barriers to learning and enable young people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to work closely across key stages 3 and 4 with students who may have specific learning needs or challenges with their social, emotional and mental health and/or engagement issues. We are looking to appoint the right person with the personal qualities and attributes to support and inspire engagement in learning.
Sir Thomas Wharton Academy already has a strong team of professionals delivering high quality learning in and out of the classroom who work together to achieve our Academy vision ‘to deliver exceptional learning experiences that enable all young people to thrive in a competitive world and lead successful and fulfilling lives’. If you feel you would like to be a part of that team and could make a valuable contribution to driving standards and performance to the next level, we would like to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will:
• be committed to Maltby Learning Trust's Vision and Values and the Academy's Key Drivers.
• be a driven, proactive, and positive individual with an unwavering commitment to continuously improving their own standards.
• have a true growth mindset, exceptional work ethic and a sense of humour.
• be a team player and work closely with other professionals and implement effective strategies to ensure systems and processes are rigorously adhered to.
• be an excellent professional with high expectations of all learners and staff within the team.
• have experience of working with students exhibiting challenging behaviours.
• have the ability to engage, inspire and build excellent relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
• have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas.
• work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
• support the movement of students with disabilities around the academy site.
• participate in the handling of students with disabilities.
• support students consistently, whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
• have the knowledge and experience of the context in which Sir Thomas Wharton Academy operates.
In return we offer:
• excellent career development opportunities and access to a comprehensive programme of personalised ‘Professional Learning and Development’ (PLD) at leadership level.
• an excellent induction programme with dynamic, driven and supportive staff.
• mentoring and support from an experienced team.
• the potential to work across the age and ability range.
• dedicated office space which inspires outstanding performance.
• an opportunity to work collaboratively within a multi academy Trust.

Sir Thomas Wharton Academy is a good secondary school of over 1100 students with a thriving and growing collaborative Post 16 provision. The Academy joined Maltby Learning Trust on 1st April 2017 and secured an OFSTED Good judgement in September 2021. We are now oversubscribed each year and we are very fortunate to be housed in a new building with state-of-the-art facilities.
We pride ourselves on the aspirational, supportive, and caring community we have at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy. Our team of dedicated staff ensure that students feel safe and receive the best pastoral and academic support and challenge throughout their time in the school. We further develop the cultural capital of students through a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities and broader enrichment opportunities.
We take an inclusive approach that maintains a focus on the wellbeing and progress of every child; we provide a safe place for learning through the application of our positive behaviour system and attention to individual student circumstances and needs. We firmly believe that students will ultimately achieve better results by establishing a positive and supportive partnership between parents/carers and teachers.
Our students are our biggest strength, they are honest, hardworking, aspirational, and willing to take themselves out of their comfort zone.
Our outcomes have significantly improved, this has been realised in part through a relentless focus on the six key drivers of:
· The Highest Standards
· Invest To Achieve
· Everyone Is Valued
