Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Monday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:15am - 3:45pm
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and caring Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting students with additional needs to overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive in education.
This is far more than a classroom support role. You'll become a trusted adult and positive role model, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Working alongside teachers, families, therapists, and other specialist professionals, you'll play a key role in creating a nurturing environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

What You'll Be Doing
Supporting students with their learning, emotional wellbeing, communication, and personal development.
Building positive relationships that help students feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Working closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences and promote student progress.
Delivering targeted interventions that develop confidence, independence, and life skills.
Collaborating with families and external professionals to provide holistic support for students.
Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
What We’re Looking For
GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
Experience supporting students in a SEND or specialist education setting.
Patient, resilient, empathetic, and adaptable to individual student needs.
Confident supporting students with communication, learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
Able to remain calm, consistent, and positive when managing challenging situations.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
Organised, reliable, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for students.
Passionate about making a meaningful difference and committed to ongoing professional development.

The Wenlock School offers an outstanding and therapeutic educational approach with a staff team dedicated and determined to support every individual. Our custom built school has been designed with specialised facilities, creating a unique environment, which will help our learners re-engage with their education supported by a personalised and purposeful curriculum. Many children come to us with very complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour.
