About the role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential role in the drive to raise standards in the Academy by supporting students with learning difficulties and groups of students for whom English is an additional language (EAL). By supporting students and removing barriers to learning, you will enable full access to the curriculum and help to achieve out pupils’ full potential.
You will work under the guidance of teaching staff to implement agreed work programmes and undertake Cover Supervisor duties where required by the Academy Principal. You may also be required to assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the preparation of resources.
32.5 hours per week
Term time only (39 weeks per year)

Who we are looking for
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
Previous experience of working with children of relevant age.
Specific EAL qualification and or significant professional development in supporting students with English as an additional language
Support the aims and ethos of the school
Provide a high-quality education in a safe, happy, caring and focused environment.
Encourage all students to embody our values of confidence, resilience, ambition, courage, respect and aspiration.
Ability to use range of strategies which effectively promote language learning within the mainstream context.
Ability to successfully Identifying the Needs of EAL Learners and factors in determining need: languages, countries of origin and individual needs
Understanding language development and its impact on academic progress

About Charnwood College
Charnwood College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-18 academy with sixth form, situated in the west of Loughborough in Leicestershire. The academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust and is governed by a Local Governing Body.
The secondary academy has expressive arts facilities which include a dedicated music suite and dance and drama studio. In addition, its sports facilities include a floodlit, all-weather 3G sports pitch, a new sports centre, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a gym, a fitness suite, and extensive playing fields.
