  • Salary: £22,300 per annum (not pro rata)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Wednesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm | Friday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
  • Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
  • Start Dates: September & November 2025 | January 2026

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant at Chestnut Hill School, you’ll play a key part in creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where autistic pupils with additional learning needs can flourish.

You’ll support learners aged 8–19 by:

  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Supporting both educational and emotional development
  • Creating meaningful learning experiences tailored to individual needs
  • Providing supervision, care, and encouragement in and out of the classroom
  • Promoting independence and life skills through hands-on experiences

This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to make a genuine difference, every single day.

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have GCSEs (Grade C or above) in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Have experience working in education or supporting young people with ALN/SEN
  • Are compassionate, resilient, and adaptable
  • Enjoy working outdoors and indoors in a variety of classroom settings
  • Thrive in a supportive team environment and love to collaborate

Chestnut Hill is a small, independent school catering to autistic pupils and young people aged 8-19.

We aim to provide an inclusive, safe, inspiring and supportive environment in which our pupils are encouraged to form friendships, aspire and believe in themselves, discover new ways of learning, develop skills for life, know they are valued and have a sense of belonging. The student’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything Chestnut Hill will do, and we aim to build close relationships with parents/guardians and work collaboratively with alternative provision professionals, such as speech and language, art and occupational therapists. To support students' specific needs. We will always strive for the very best for our young people.

Our individually tailored curriculum will cover all Areas of Learning (AoLE's) from the New Welsh Curriculum, in imaginative and flexible ways for pupils ages 8 to 19. We aim to provide Regular opportunities for pupils to access a wide range of activities including yoga, cycling, forest school, swimming and coaching in inclusive and traditional sports by external coaches and internal facilitators.

We are located in Holywell, a beautiful market town and community in Flintshire, Wales.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. Chestnut Hill School is located in a stunning rural location, overlooking the Dee Estuary. Our school provides specialist education for up to 25 students, aged 8 – 19 having a range of complex needs including ASC and ADHD, in addition to impaired social or cognitive functioning due to early life trauma and attachment difficulties.

Our school has an inclusive and innovative approach to support teaching and learning and is currently developing its curriculum to implement the new Welsh Government’s Successful Futures initiative.
