Thank you for your interest in a teaching post at Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School.

The school is a highly successful mixed 11-18 comprehensive school in very attractive rural surroundings.  We have 1465 students on roll including 212 in the sixth form.  Our intake includes children from the local town, the surrounding villages and also some from the communities of Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Berkeley and Dursley.  The school has an excellent local reputation and is over-subscribed.

We are committed to helping every child in the school to enjoy their education and to make the best possible progress in academic terms and also in their personal development.  These priorities mean that our students can leave the school with great results, with the knowledge and confidence necessary to enable them to be successful in their continuing education and to be well prepared for adult life.

For main scale teaching posts, we welcome applications from experienced teachers as well as those who will be newly qualified in September.  If you are currently an Initial Teacher Training student, you really should consider applying as this is a great school for newly qualified teachers.  We have up to ten Initial Teacher Training students here every year and when posts become available in their subject areas, they often make applications which demonstrates their informed view of the school.  It is a large school which offers a wide range of opportunities for staff in so many ways, from professional development to joining in with overseas visits.  Staff morale is high with very low staff turnover which, again, reflects the school’s stability and the excellent working environment.

Wotton-under-Edge is close to junction 14 on the M5 and is within easy travelling distance from Bristol, Gloucester and other areas such as Stroud to the north and Portishead to the south.

Please have a look at our website.  We hope that you do make an application to the school and we look forward to meeting you in interview.
