Job overview
Job overview
We are seeking a motivated, caring, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching
Assistant to join our developing specialist provision supporting students aged 11–16 with significant
additional needs. Our provision supports students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum
Condition (ASC), learning difficulties, and speech and language needs, though it is not limited to these
areas.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a growing and evolving provision, where staff can contribute ideas and help shape practice. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to help students access learning, develop independence, and build confidence both in the classroom and through wider enrichment opportunities.
We welcome applicants who bring experience or a particular interest in supporting additional needs. A
specific specialism is desirable but not essential, and we encourage applications from individuals with a
passion for special education.
Key responsibilities include:
• Work with individuals or groups of pupils to address targets identified in pupils’ EHCP’S and IEP’s.
• Promote pupils’ self-esteem, independence, and participation in the school community
• Show sensitivity to issues surrounding students who may exhibit challenging behaviour, are disaffected,
or have complex learning needs
• Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons and intervention/support programmes
• Provide support as needed in the development of learning resources
• Support pupils on off-site visits and independent travel
• Provide physical support where necessary, including intimate and personal care
We are particularly interested in candidates who can support learning and enrichment through:
• Creative arts
• Life skills and independence
• Social communication and social skills
• Sports and physical activity
• Outdoor learning
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people, supporting
them to develop academically, socially and personally in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
What we offer:
• The opportunity to work within a supportive and developing specialist provision
• A collaborative and welcoming staff team
• Opportunities for training and professional development
• Experience valuable for graduates considering further specialisation or careers in education, psychology,
speech and language therapy, or related fields
Why join us:
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people,
supporting them to develop academically, socially, and personally in a nurturing and inclusive
environment.
