We are looking to recruit a permanent, full time Teaching Assistant that can work collaboratively with tutors and staff within Prison Education, providing support to learners with neurodiverse and inclusion needs, including those with disabilities. Their role is to promote an effective and inclusive learning environment, providing support to learners. 


The Role 


Based from HMP Chelmsford, our Teaching Assistants are responsible for managing a caseload of learners, carrying out initial screening activity with learners during the induction period, identifying neurodiverse and inclusion needs, and development and monitoring of Individual Learning Support Plans.  


Furthermore the role involves maintenance of learner records to measure progress, implementation of interventions to improve performance and delivery of inspirational learning support both in a classroom or workshop environment and with learners on a one to one basis. Our Teaching Assistants encourage cooperative interaction, inclusion and acceptance and collaboratively manage behaviour of the learners, promoting and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.


What are we looking for? 


You will need to demonstrate high ethical standards, take personal accountability for everything you do, and always want to be the best. You should have relevant and recent experience in a similar role within a learning environment and hold or be willing to work towards a level 3 Learning Support/Teaching Assistant qualification. 


You will be passionate, creative, and empathetic towards our learners, offering knowledge and guidance throughout their academic and vocational studies. You should be able to demonstrate experience of working within a Special Educational Needs field and experience of positively interacting with people in an educational or support setting.
