You will provide both academic and pastoral support, working with students on an individual basis, in small groups and within the classroom. Using positive, trauma-informed approaches, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and resilience, and make progress towards their EHCP outcomes. You will also support students' emotional wellbeing, independence and preparation for adulthood through personalised interventions and everyday encouragement.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting students across a range of curriculum subjects and vocational pathways.

Delivering tailored academic and pastoral support to meet individual needs.

Promoting student engagement, independence, resilience and self-regulation.

Supporting the implementation of EHCP provisions and personalised learning goals.

Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage success and wellbeing.

Using trauma-informed and relational approaches to support behaviour and emotional development.

Supporting students during periods of dysregulation through positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies.

Contributing to reward systems that celebrate achievement, progress and positive behaviour.

Maintaining accurate records relating to progress, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding.

Working collaboratively with families, external professionals and multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes for students.

About You

We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs. You will be committed to helping students overcome challenges, build confidence and achieve success both academically and personally.

You will:

Be passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs.

Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience and emotional intelligence.

Be able to build positive, professional relationships based on trust and consistency.

Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Have strong organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Be able to motivate, encourage and inspire young people to achieve their potential.

Have a Full UK Driving Licence

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to have a genuine impact on young people's lives and support them as they develop the confidence, independence and skills needed for their future.
