Newington Primary is a very special learning community. We are a 2 form entry primary based in Hull and proud to serve the communities of Central and West Hull Over the last three years, significant investment in our building and commitment from our talented staff team has meant that attainment has risen and we are a securely ‘good’ school (Ofsted 2014).

Due to internal staff movements we now have an opportunity for a dedicated and committed support staff professional to join ‘Team Newington’. You will support our teachers across KS1 and KS2 in supporting pupils both on a one to basis, and in small groups.

This is a permanent post and the successful candidate must hold English and Maths GCSE level at ‘C’ or above or equivalent.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting and adapting learning for pupils in either KS1 or KS2
  • Have experience of working with young people
  • Be robust, resilient and take a pride in helping students who can sometimes find school life challenging.
  • Be flexible, positive and have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Have minimum NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent)

Newington Academy is an exciting, caring and fun place to be. We are extremely proud of our Victorian building that has now reached the grand old age of 143! Our numbers have grown dramatically in recent years and we now have 390 pupils on roll, ranging from 3 to 11 years. We are a two form intake, with a brand new modular building enabling us to increase our PAN to 60. We offer a huge range of curriculum enhancements and educational visits, extra curricular clubs and outdoor learning in our bespoke outdoor classroom within our ‘Newington Gardens’ outdoor area.

The area around the Academy is currently being regenerated so it is rapidly changing -  we are very excited about these changes!  Newington Academy is a thriving academy full of life and fantastic experiences that gives the Academy its unique atmosphere and place in the community.
