Location: The Write Time School, Warrington Road, Croydon, CR0 4BH

The Write Time is a small independent SEN therapeutic secondary school and sixth form with a capacity of 60 students, catering to pupils with EHC Plans as well as social, emotional, and mental health needs. The Write Time is the UK’s first William Glasser Institute Quality School, with the implementation of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy forming the basis of our educational approach in both theory and practice. The successful candidate for this post will embrace this psychology in all aspects of their professional practice, with full training provided where necessary.

As an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school, The Write Time works with multiple local authorities across South London, including Croydon, Lewisham, Merton, Sutton, and Wandsworth to educate ‘at risk’ learners as a long-term, permanent educational environment. Our school offers a stable, secure, and supportive setting, where we ensure that the children and young people we care for can develop the skills and confidence necessary to help them fulfil their educational and social potential.

As an exceptional Teaching Assistant/ Learning Development Tutor, you will work by supporting a small specialist team of teachers that are qualified to work in a therapeutic setting. Classes consist of a mixture of year groups tailored to needs and academic ability. You will be expected to work effectively with both teaching and support staff at all levels as well as with parents/carers, students, and external agencies. Training in school systems and practices will be provided. This role will give the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to work closely with students in a small classroom setting (approximately 10 students per class within Key stages 3 and 4). From September 2022, duties will also include a small specialist KS5 Provision.

About you

• An experienced Teaching Assistant/ Learning Development Tutor with a passion for positive reinforcement and learning

• The ability to manage a small group of children with complex social communication needs.

• The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.

• A positive approach to managing challenging behaviour and staying calm under pressure

We reserve the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate apply.
