About this Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Professional to work with teachers, support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan.

Ormiston Latimer Academy is an alternative provision academy in The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBK&C). It is commissioned to provide education for pupils that are at risk of exclusion or are excluded from school with the aim to achieve reintegration back into school, further education or employment.

The academy is on an improvement journey and the staff are excited and motivated to keep developing, learning and moving the school forwards. The curriculum is as broad and balanced as possible and one that provides an element of choice underpinned by a strong core. This enables staff to prepare pupils for a return to mainstream without compromising on potential outcomes for those who complete their examinations at the academy. Students are proud of their school and articulate well what they like about it. They see their relationships with teachers as a real strength of the school, along with the enrichment opportunities, and can also clearly articulate what they would like to see improve. They are honest and friendly and really want to do well.

Ormiston Beachcroft Academy is a primary and secondary alternative provision academy situated in Westminster. The academy supports learners who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school. We also support learners with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.

Learners are educated in small, well-supported groups and follow a broad curriculum of English, maths, science, ICT, humanities, PE, art, life skills/PHSE and food technology. Learners receive targeted support for literacy and numeracy and are able to access a range of therapeutic interventions. The academy was judged as good in all areas by Ofsted in 2016.

We work closely with secondary and primary schools in the borough to facilitate learners’ return to mainstream education whenever possible. Learners can gain a broad range of GCSEs or equivalent Level 2 qualifications by the end of Year 11. Learners can also attend college placements for a variety of vocational courses. Learners have individual learning plans to enable them to achieve to the best of their abilities and the academy rewards progress weekly so that even the smallest of steps are recognised. Learners take full advantage of the opportunities to widen their experiences in the local and wider area visiting museums and exhibitions and going on trips at the end of term as well as attending special programmes of activities during the holidays. The staff team works closely with parents/carers and outside agencies to make Ormiston Beachcroft Academy a safe and enjoyable place where pupils gain the skills and confidence for success in future life.
