We currently have an exciting opportunity for four dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant Level 1 SEN to join our fantastic team at Prospect House Primary Specialist School
These are fixed term posts for one academic year, working full time, 35 hours per week during term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £22,004 and the full time equivalent is £25,583 (Grade 3). The start date for this role is 1st September 2026.
We’re looking for:
Someone who understands the role of a Teaching Assistant, collaborates effectively with classroom professionals, and has basic knowledge of child development and learning and excellent numeracy and literacy skills, qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher. The right candidate will be committed to professional standards, continuously striving to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills. A focus on teamwork and driving continuous improvement to support student success is required.
This is a great opportunity to work in a Special Educational Needs School, working under the supervision of other teachers. You will be part of a team providing exceptional education for students. You will require tact and diplomacy in order to build excellent interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders including colleagues across the school and trust, parents and external agencies. Experience of working with children and/or young people with communication, severe, profound or complex learning difficulties is highly desirable.
Main purpose of the job:
As a Teaching Assistant Level 1 (SEN), you will work closely with students requiring individualised support due to complex needs. You will play a key role in enabling access to learning, supporting communication, and promoting independence and well-being.
Key responsibilities will include:
To work with small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher and ensure implementation of Individual Learning Plans.
Providing consistent 1:1 support tailored to the student’s individual needs
Provide regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher and keeping records up to date.
Assist with the supervision of discreet groups of pupils for short periods when the teacher is not present.
Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
Participate in training, to develop relevant learning strategies and ensure students make progress in learning.
To support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
To converse at ease and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Prospect House is a free special primary school in Higher Blackley, North Manchester. Part of Prospere Learning Trust, the school offers places for children with very significant learning needs and other associated additional needs, aged 3 – 11 years old.
