Term Time Only (39 weeks) permanent
Monday – Friday 32.5 hours per week
8.50am-3.40pm - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
8.50am – 4.45pm – Wednesday

This is an exciting time as our outstanding all-age special school expands and we are recruiting a number of permanent Level 2 Teaching Assistants to assist our diverse range of learners in all areas of the curriculum. Positions are in our primary and secondary teams but you may also be asked to support across phases.
The role includes:
- Assisting the class teacher with learning activities
- Undertaking appropriate activities as planned, within the classroom or with groups of pupils.
- Supporting and supervising beyond the classroom at breaktimes and be involved in activities which support the social development of pupils
- Assisting pupils with personal hygiene and healthcare/medical routine
- Dealing with minor accidents and administer first aid.
Hazel Oak is an outstanding learning environment, with pupils who have a broad range of needs including Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, social, emotional and behavioural challenges and a range of personal care and medical needs. We also support a growing number of pupils with mental health challenges. The working day can be great fun, fast paced but also very challenging. The staff team are creative, resilient and passionate about all the challenges and rewards of working to support children with special educational needs.
Staff are well supported at a personal and professional level, and are actively involved in the school’s development with access to regular training and peer support. The successful applicant will:
- Hold an NVQ level 2 qualification in education/childcare/child development/supporting teaching and learning, or equivalent
- GCSE in English and Maths, or equivalent
- Have experience of working with children with learning difficulties
- Be skilled in positive behaviour management and solution-focused thinking
