Job overview

Ebor Academy Trust is a multi-academy trust serving children aged 2 to 16. It is our aspiration to develop geographical hubs of schools that share our values.

Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy is a large primary school based in Eastfield, Scarborough, which is currently going through an exciting period of change under new leadership.

We have a number of opportunities for Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team to support a number of children with additional needs.  The hours of the roles will vary to a maximum of 37 per week.  All posts will be term time only (ie paid for 45 weeks of the year, in 12 equal monthly instalments).

Within the role you will work under the direction of the class teacher, SENCO or member of the School’s Management Team, undertaking pre-planned work and using your initiative to enable pupils to access learning activity. Working with individual pupils or small groups of pupils, you will assist with the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress, providing feedback to the teacher.

We are looking people with experience of working with children in a supportive capacity who have a good knowledge of child development and children’s personal development needs and strategies which promote good behaviour and discipline.  You will be resilient in the face of challenging pupil behaviour and will take appropriate action to meet pupil’s needs as they arise and understand the factors that impact upon childrens’ emotional needs and mental health.

A team player, you will have excellent communication skills for communicating with pupils, teachers, parents and relevant others. Strong time management and organisational skills are essential, as is being a competent user of IT.

Most importantly you must have a strong passion and resilience to work with children who often have complex needs.
