Job overview

Carillion Academies Trust are looking to appoint one Level 2 Teaching Assistant at Discovery Academy, Tameside to support the continued growth of our primary academy.

Discovery Academy opened in September 2016 to Nursery and one Reception class and the academy is growing incrementally as pupils move up through the Academy.  This really is an exciting opportunity which should offer enormous satisfaction both from the outcomes our children will achieve and the excellent scope for development as the Academy grows year on year.

Growing our Academy will continue to require hard work, determination, energy and creativity but we believe that already the pleasure and satisfaction of seeing the pupils achieve and develop is making every minute worthwhile.   At Discovery Academy we are looking for one full time (term time only) permanent Level 2 Teaching Assistants to start in September 2017.

The proposed timescale for the application and interview process is as follows:

  • Applications close at 12.00 noon Friday 15th June 2017; and
  • Interviews will take place on Wednesday 21st June 2017.

The roles are full time (term time only) permanent roles with a salary of £14,739 - £15,290 for 37.5 hours per week.

The Governors are looking for one highly motivated, exceptional TA2 with the drive, enthusiasm and commitment to improve pupil achievement and work in a collaborative team. The right candidates will join our highly dedicated and supportive staff to help us to establish and maintain outstanding provision for our pupils which will enable each of our children to achieve their best. The roles will provide support to the teaching and learning of pupils, initially in the Early Years.

An overview of the duties you will be expected to fulfill in order to support our pupils’ learning and progress will include:

  • Assessing the needs of pupils and using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning;
  • Establishing productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations;
  • Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom;
  • Supporting pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs;
  • Encouraging pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engaging all pupils in activities; and
  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.

We have had a fantastic start to life at the academy with a hugely positive first two terms.  Staff and pupils have worked together brilliantly to the delight of parents at our family assemblies and events during the year.  We appointed staff last year to join us in September 2016 to support our first year of opening and we are delighted that we have a full complement of staff across all areas of the Academy.  We have had great interest in the Academy and from parents for places in Nursery and Reception in September 2017.

Our staff tell us that working for Carillion Academies Trust involves:

  • Working with a team of highly dedicated people who all want to support each other and achieve the best outcomes for children.
