Ellowes Hall Sports College is a thriving, inclusive school with a strong commitment to supporting all students in achieving their full potential.

We are excited to announce the opening of our brand-new SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Centre, and we are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to lead this important provision. These posts are to be deployed within this Centre and across the wider school.

This exciting development offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic team that is committed to providing the highest standard of education and support for students with SEMH needs. We are seeking three enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join us in these pivotal roles.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of emotional, social, and behavioural needs, ensuring that they have the opportunity to engage fully in their education. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage student participation, engagement, and self-confidence in their learning.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support students in maintaining positive behaviour.
  • Collaborate with staff and external professionals to develop strategies that support student wellbeing and academic progress.
  • Support the development of social and emotional skills in a school setting.
  • Ensure students feel safe, supported, and understood in a structured, calm environment.

Person Specification

  • Experience working with students with SEMH or other additional needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient nature.
  • A commitment to improving the life chances and wellbeing of students.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to think on your feet.
  • A relevant qualification in education, support work, or child development is essential.

Why Ellowes Hall?

  • Be part of a brand-new, state-of-the-art SEMH provision within an established and supportive school.
  • A unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students in a fresh, exciting environment.
  • Access to professional development opportunities and training to further your career in education.
  • Supportive colleagues and leadership who are passionate about ensuring the success of every student.

Our high standards are evident in a number of areas – academic, sporting, artistic, cultural and behaviour. We will never compromise on these high standards – and we will commit ourselves to helping our children to be the best they can be.

Our Sports College Status has brought with it substantial achievements – obviously sporting but also across other subjects and within the local community in areas such as our outstanding productions, community events such as the Senior Citizens Christmas Party, and our International School Award ~ the first to be awarded to a Dudley school. We are, furthermore, one of the first schools nationally to be granted our own Army Cadet Detachment. We were also the first school in Dudley to receive the Leading Parent Partnership Award, awarded at the time to only 250 schools, mainly around London. We have now been reaccredited for the award for a fourth time. We believe that we are the first school to do this. We take seriously the idea of ‘in loco parentis’, the idea that while students are with us we are their parents and, like all parents, we want the absolute best for them. This is a school with a good deal of pride in itself – we are proud of our young people and we are proud of the caring education they receive.
