We are looking to appoint an energetic and creative person to work with our students, aged 11-18, including those with additional needs. You would be supporting teaching and learning in the classroom as well as running small group and one to one interventions. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has a passion for actively contributing to society, helping to develop tomorrow’s adults and supporting them to become confident, respectful, independent and resilient.

Following our recent Ofsted inspection, we have once again been awarded a grading of Outstanding and this includes our SEND provision. More details about our work can be found on our website

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is empathetic and can build trust and rapport with students, staff and parents.
  • Acts as an excellent role model and can challenge the norms whilst working as part of a well-established team of education professionals.
  • Is a confident communicator with adults and children.
  • Has high standards of numeracy and literacy and is able to inspire and motivate .young people to be the best they can be.

Whilst it would be an advantage, applicants do not necessarily need to have worked in education but must have their own high academic standards and expectations and be enthusiastic and passionate about engaging with young people of all needs and abilities. The role would also suit someone who is looking for a career pathway into teaching, particularly since the Trust has its own teacher training school.

Working for The Blue Coat School means that you would be part of the Cranmer Education Trust, a successful, growing Trust which prides itself on looking after its people, offering a high level of support and access to expertise. This is an excellent time to join the team, as we develop collaborative structures and systems to enhance and support our growing family of schools.

There are 10 schools in our trust, both primary and secondary schools, across Oldham and Rochdale. The trust also incorporates a teacher training school and the East Manchester Teaching Hub, which support the training and development of new and existing teachers across the North West of England.

  • A strong school community that places children, families and staff at the heart of everything we do.
  • A supportive team who will work with and alongside you to achieve the very best

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins
