You will join a dedicated Achievement Support Department providing support to students with a range of learning, behavioural, emotional or other special educational needs. You will be part of a strong team of professional education support staff making a vital contribution to the success of the School. You will be expected to work flexibly and sensitively with groups and individuals.

Applicants must have a good working knowledge of the whole suite of Microsoft Office software and be comfortable using Word and Excel extensively. We use SIMS as our main management information software and whilst familiarity with this piece of software is not essential the successful candidate must be able to learn quickly as they will use this central source of management information on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.
Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to the disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. King Edward VII School is a mainstream, state-community, co-educational, non-denominational, secondary school for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and it has over 1700 pupils on its roll, including over 600 in Sixth Form.

Students say they feel safe in school and behaviour is good; inspection findings confirm this. The vast majority are proud of their school. Attendance has improved and is now above average.
