Job Overview
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible candidate to join our team. We are a relatively new but already successful school in Tower Hamlets serving a fantastic community: our children are respectful and hardworking, our parents are supportive and friendly and our team is skilled and dedicated.
As a teaching assistant, you will help the school to ensure all children not only learn well but also develop our school values of respect, resilience and independence. Initially, the vacancy is in a specialist class for children with particularly acute special educational needs. Your role will be to support them in their learning, including their development of language and social skills, and to contribute to their pastoral and physical care. You will benefit from the support and guidance of an expert class teacher as well as senior staff. This role would suit an experienced teaching assistant or someone looking to start their career: our experienced team can provide tailored support and learning opportunities to build your own professional skills.
What we can offer:
● Friendly, knowledgeable colleagues who can support you to develop.
● Professional development opportunities to equip you with the skills you need to succeed.
● A calm and well-organised school
● A commitment to staff wellbeing: among other things, we offer a dedicated space for prayer & meditation
We are looking for someone with:
● A warm, friendly and positive ‘can-do’ attitude;
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team;
● A passion for ensuring that all children receive the best possible education;
● Experience of working with children, ideally children with special educational needs
● The skills to support children with significant special education needs, or the desire and commitment to acquire these skills.
Stepney Park Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and amendments to the Exemptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. Any job offer will be conditional on the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and barred list check. An online search will be conducted for all shortlisted candidates. We are dedicated to equality and value diversity.
