 WORKING PATTERN: 35 Hours per week (8:00am – 3:30 pm) term time only  

SALARY: TA Level 3 Grade 4 Points 17-21 (£17,772 – 20,138) pro-rata (£14,826 -£16,800 actual)

You will be located in Didsbury, (often voted as one of the most popular places to live in Manchester) only a short walk from the vibrant shops, bars and restaurants of Didsbury village. You will also have access to excellent transport links to Manchester city centre and surrounding areas. 

 This role involves working with students who are underachieving in a variety of subjects. You will work intensively with several students at a time in order to achieve their targets and raise their motivation and aspirations, recognizing and responding to students who may suffer with social/emotional or mental health difficulties. This would include meeting and mentoring students and keeping accurate records of sessions, utilising a wide range of behavior management strategies to de-escalate difficult situations and working with the students in class across a range of subjects, monitoring their achievement against pre-determined learning objectives and responding effectively where a student is not engaged in class.    

You should:  

 • Have NVQ level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent qualifications or experience

 • Have experience of working with or caring for secondary aged children. 

• Have experience of working with students with additional learning needs, in particular children  with social, emotional or mental health difficulties including students on the autistic spectrum. 

 • Have experience of successfully using a wide range of interventions and strategies to promote emotional well-being in young people

 • Have good literacy and numeracy skills 

• Have the ability to work pro-actively and re-engage students within challenging situations  

In addition, you must be willing to undertake emergency first aid training.
