Teaching Assistant

Harris Academy Merton opened in 2006 and serves students from Year 7 to Sixth Form. In 2008, we achieved a grading of 'Outstanding' by Ofsted: a judgment that was repeated under the more challenging criteria in 2012. The current student roll is 1200, with a planned increase in our Year 7 intake over the next two years taking our numbers from 180 to 240 students. Applications for places greatly exceed the places available. 

The academy is set in seven acres of land containing five teaching blocks, a sports hall, a full size floodlit all weather pitch plus four full size floodlit tennis courts and our own playing fields, as well as an administration building containing the assembly hall and dining hall. We are favourably located for public transport with good local access to bus, mainline train and underground links, as well as on-site parking for vehicles and bicycles. 

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team of staff to work with the Learning Support Department at Harris Academy Merton.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a candidate who can both support our students and enable them to access the curriculum. You would work under the instruction/guidance of the Director of Learning Support, to undertake work/care/support programmes within the academy and to enable access to learning for students through in class support and withdrawal lessons. 

If you have experience or an interest in working with young people aged 11-18 and can demonstrate a calm and steady manner, effective communication and interpersonal skills and be a positive role model, we would welcome your application.
