North Ormesby Primary Academy is a special place. Everything we do is for our children and our community, which is why Ofsted grade us as an ‘outstanding’ school. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has experience of working in Upper Key Stage 2.

"You are determined to provide all pupils with the very highest quality of teaching so that they are better equipped for the next stage of their education. You encourage all pupils to have high aspirations for their future by helping each individual to discover what makes them remarkable." (Ofsted, June 2019)

We are a small community primary based on the outskirts of Middlesbrough serving an area of high challenge and social deprivation. Our staff are enthusiastic and committed to improving outcomes for children with a passion for learning through a creative and meaningful curriculum.

We are a 1:1 iPad school, recently awarded the ‘Apple Distinguished School’ award, and we use technology very effectively across all of our curriculum and across the school. The role will involve supporting the care and supervision of children in various play, learning and other daily activities. The successful candidates will be able to maintain a safe working environment, be able to work well as part of a team and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience of working with children would be an advantage.

In return we will offer you:

  • A professional, hardworking and supportive team of staff with the capability and desire to raise student achievement even further
  • Enthusiastic pupils who are willing to learn and are proud of their learning environment
  • A multitude of opportunities for further professional development including research-informed pedagogy, using technology to enhance learning and overcoming barriers to learning
  • Extra-curricular activities and facilities for staff
  • A caring and supportive working environment within a vibrant Academy community, where the mental health and well-being of staff and children is paramount

You will be joining an excellent, highly skilled team from across the Academy.

This is a fixed-term contract and is due to commence in September 2022

North Ormesby Primary  is a cohesive, hard-working team of children, parents, staff and governors which Ofsted described as 'a haven'. We strive to meet individual needs, enabling children the opportunity to grow and flourish. Success is rewarded and celebrated at every opportunity and challenge is provided to all children to encourage them to achieve their potential. We work together to ensure our children start well on their journey towards a Remarkable Life.

"Pupils run eagerly ahead of of their parents, which offers clues as to the magic within! Labels are left at the door in this oasis of learning. Children are at the heart of every decision made and are immensely proud to be here."  (IQM August 2018)

"All leaders, including governors, are creative in their approach and are unafraid to take measured risks to make sure the academy has continually improved. They have created a culture where everyone loves to learn."  (OFSTED 2015)

Our Curriculum

All schools have a unique identity and at North Ormesby Academy we believe that we have created an outstanding friendly, caring and supportive environment that encourages our children to fully learn and develop into well-rounded pupils ready for the challenge of the 21st century.

Our children are very happy and feel safe in school. Our exceptionally talented staff team use all their expertise and experience to extend learning, creating challenges in a broad and balanced, experience-rich curriculum.

We try to abide by some fundamentals for our curriculum: Excellence, enjoyment and enrichment.

We want to develop children who are ready for the modern world – resilient problem solvers, able to communicate effectively and work as part of a team, managing themselves and others. These are the traits of ‘Tim’; our school ambassador, star pupil and the motivational target for all of our children.

Tim encourages pupils to have a positive attitude to develop resilience and determination in preparation for becoming a confident member of the local and wider community and achieve scholastic excellence.

Tim encourages pupils to achieve and gain the best possible outcomes through hard work, exemplary behaviour and a real love for challenge. He encourages pupils to become masters in everything they do and reminds them that 'practise makes permanent'!

We put ‘Tim’s Traits’ at the heart of our curriculum, ‘wrap’ them with the national curriculum and ‘coat’ with our topic theme, meaning when our children look at learning they see Jurassic Era, Florence Nightingale, The Land of Imagination etc.

Having a thematic approach helps teach all subject areas in a more cohesive way and helps with conceptual understanding for our children. Teachers can decide on any topic per phase. This means they can focus on current affairs, needs in the community, gaps in knowledge/experience or just those amazing things that children are interesting in!
