About the Role

Looking for a career where you can go home knowing you’ve made a genuine difference? At Hillingdon Manor School, we’re looking for caring, positive and resilient Teaching Assistants to join our specialist education team.

You don’t need years of classroom experience to join us. If you’re great with people, patient when things get challenging and passionate about helping young people succeed, you could already have many of the skills we’re looking for.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be much more than an extra pair of hands in the classroom. You’ll become a trusted and consistent role model, getting to know pupils as individuals and helping them build the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed.

Some days you might help a pupil understand something they’ve been struggling with. On others, you could help them regulate their emotions, develop a new skill or find the confidence to take part in something they previously avoided.

The small wins matter here – because they can lead to life-changing progress.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support, helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their individual goals.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.

  • Encourage pupils to develop greater confidence, communication, independence and social skills.

  • Support emotional wellbeing and behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.

  • Get involved in activities across the wider school day, helping make learning enjoyable and meaningful.

  • Recognise and celebrate progress, encouraging pupils to see what they’re capable of achieving.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to create a positive, inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.

What We're Looking For

You might already be an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity. Or perhaps you’re considering a complete career change and want to use your people skills in a role with more purpose.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient and empathetic and enjoys building relationships with young people.

  • Can remain calm, positive and resilient when situations become challenging.

  • Is enthusiastic and willing to get involved in different aspects of school life.

  • Can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of different pupils.

  • Is a great team player who enjoys learning from and supporting others.

  • Is passionate about helping young people develop confidence and achieve their potential.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

New to Education? We’d Still Love to Hear from You.

Your experience doesn’t have to come from a classroom.

Skills developed through care, support work, youth work, coaching, hospitality, retail, customer service, sports or other people-focused roles can all transfer well into specialist education.

What matters most is your patience, resilience, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
