About Breaside Preparatory School

Located in Bromley, Kent, Breaside Preparatory School offers an ambitious and nurturing education for children aged 2½ - 11. From Kindergarten through to Year 6, our pupils benefit from a rich curriculum that builds strong academic foundations alongside confidence, character and independence.

Academic excellence is at the heart of all we do. With a consistent record of outstanding 11+ results and scholarships to leading senior schools, we ensure every child is challenged, supported and inspired to achieve their very best. Small class sizes and dedicated, high-performing teachers mean we truly know each pupil, enabling us to nurture both achievement and wellbeing in equal measure.

Alongside our academic strengths, we place increasing emphasis on developing future-ready skills. Through enterprise initiatives and real-world learning opportunities, pupils are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems, work collaboratively and present their ideas with confidence. They learn to take initiative, embrace challenge and understand how their learning connects beyond the classroom.

Our School Environment

Breaside operates across two sites – Orchard Road and Widmore Road – just a short walk apart in Bromley. The opening of our Widmore Road site has allowed us to expand while maintaining the close-knit, family feel that defines the school.

Across both sites, pupils benefit from well-resourced learning environments, including enhanced Early Years classrooms, outdoor play areas and access to Forest School. Specialist teaching in Art, Music, Languages and Sport further enriches the curriculum, alongside a wide range of co-curricular opportunities.

Led by Executive Principal Mrs Nicholson, Breaside provides a consistent and supportive environment where high expectations are matched with strong pastoral care.

Ethos & Values

Breaside has a distinctive sense of energy and purpose. From the earliest years through to Year 6, pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and a genuine love of learning.

We place great importance on recognising each child as an individual. Our pupils are supported to explore their interests, take pride in their achievements and grow in confidence both inside and outside the classroom. We aim high, but always with kindness, ensuring every child feels secure, supported and ready to succeed.

At Breaside, education is about more than preparation for the next step – it is about preparing children for life, equipping them with the skills, mindset and self-belief to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
