About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of the classroom, supporting pupils with additional and complex needs to access learning, develop key life skills and celebrate their successes. You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider team to create engaging learning experiences while supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.

This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same — and where every small step forward for a pupil is a big achievement.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups to help them engage with learning

  • Assisting teachers in delivering creative and engaging lessons and activities

  • Encouraging pupils’ emotional, social and personal development

  • Promoting positive behaviour, confidence and independence

  • Supporting a range of classroom, practical and outdoor learning activities

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to provide a consistent and nurturing environment

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grades A–C or 4 and above)

At Mountfield Heath School we support boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 11 years of age who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. Our aim is very simple: we want to equip every child with the skills, knowledge and confidence that they need to be successful in their future.

Mountfield Heath School is set in a spacious, site with designated spaces for outdoor learning and large classrooms. The school is newly refurbished and all learning spaces are bright and airy with high specification IT resources. The school has designated therapeutic areas and plenty of space for creative and experiential learning to take place.
