We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to work as part of our Learning Support Team from September 2024. Windermere School is non-selective. We are fully committed to providing an inclusive environment for our learners to thrive and grow.

The position will be 1:1 supporting a child in Key Stage 2 with an EHCP for Communication and Interaction.

This is a term time only position with an additional requirement to attend all INSET days, usually five per year, which fall outside of the School terms and to work any Public Holidays when the School is operational. The role is 20 hours a week (4 hours a day).

Knowledge and experience of SEND and familiarity of working with and implementing interventions for individuals with Communication and Interaction and Sensory difficulties would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will have a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification Level 3 or above (Support for Learning in Education), although consideration will be given to those working towards relevant qualifications, have a professional and committed attitude to work at all times and be able to adopt flexible teaching styles and approaches.

We are looking for applicants with a calm, approachable personality, team spirit and an interest in extending their professional development, and keen to keep up to date with new research and changes within the field of SEND.

It is expected that the successful applicant will be fully committed to the demands of a coeducational boarding and day school.

CHILD PROTECTION RESPONSIBILITIES

The post-holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom s/ he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school s/he must report any concerns to the school’s Child Protection Officer.
