Job overview

We seek to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join a school that is undergoing rapid change.

Marshfields School is a successful Y5 – Y14 Special School for students with complex learning difficulties. Small classes mean that our teachers get to know the needs of all individuals in their care and plan the curriculum accordingly. Our students are well motivated and eager to learn with excellent levels of attendance. A new build has recently been handed over, and a substantial refurb has just been completed. These developments ensure we are able to continue to grow our offer to meet the needs of local students.

We are a designated as a hub school for Peterborough, providing short-term primary school placements, professional development and expertise in Moderate Learning Difficulties provision across the City of Peterborough. We welcomed our first Year 5 and Year 6 primary-aged students in January 2020. The primary class is now well established and growing rapidly. We intend to consult on extending the offer to Year 3 for September 2022.

This is therefore a growth position, and the successful candidate will allow us to continue to grow our provision.

The successful candidate will have a passion for education and will have the skills and abilities to engage and enthuse different types of learners. You will work productively as part of a team and be well supported in making the career transition to Special Education.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who:-

• Is committed to the inclusion of Children with Special Educational Needs;

• Are creative, motivated and friendly and will maintain and promote the caring, positive ethos of the school;

• Are enthusiastic, supportive and positive with adults and children.

The successful candidate will be required to take an enhanced disclosure via the DBS which meets the requirements of the school and evidence of the right to work in the UK.

Please send a completed application form and a supporting letter of application to judemacdonald@marshfields-sch.co.uk.

Closing date for applications 28th February 2022, 12pm.
