Full Time Teaching Assistant required (37 hours per week term time only)  on a temporary basis (subject to Pupil Premium funding) to work across the academy, supporting Pupil Premium students.

The post will include:

  • Having responsibility for a caseload of Pupil Premium students, providing support to enhance their learning and social wellbeing
  • Working with teachers to plan and adjust work programmes and intervention strategies to meet the needs of Pupil Premium students
  • Promoting attendance and taking swift action to address low attendance and persistent absence
  • Supporting all Pupil Premium students to achieve our ‘sky high expectations’ for work and behaviour
  • Supporting departments in the sourcing and supply of equipment needed for lessons
  • Establishing positive and productive working relationships with all students and to actively promote the inclusion of all students

Experience of working in a school environment or with young people aged 11 - 16 would be an advantage but the successful candidate will be supported by the Pupil Premium Lead and training will be provided as required.

In return, we can offer you the opportunity to work with motivated students, the full support of a dedicated and committed team of staff, a supportive induction programme and ongoing professional development, plus the opportunity to work in a developing academy.  In September 2021 we joined the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, a highly successful Multi Academy Trust, often considered the ‘market leader’ in the South West for school improvement.

Buckler’s Mead Academy is a highly inclusive academy in the east of Yeovil.  Our vision as an academy is an “inspiring education for all”. All members of our community should be given the opportunity to be happy, achieve, participate, and become successful.  Our job as professionals is to ensure this happens.  All our staff sign up to these aspirations and play a full role in contributing to this vision through inclusive teaching.  We seek to recruit dedicated and talented staff, highly committed to making a difference.

The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All appointments are subject to references and a full Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Buckler’s Mead Academy is an equal opportunities employer.  The campus is a no smoking site.

Please submit an application form and covering letter giving details of your current experience and suitability for the role.

Thank you for your interest in this post and please do not hesitate to contact the academy if you have any questions.  We look forward to receiving your application.
