Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a Teaching Assistant with experience and a passion for working with children aged 11-16 with SEND, behaviour, social emotional and mental health issues. This is an exciting time to join Edgar Wood Academy as we are a new and expanding school with a current intake of 300 students (180 in Year 7 and 120 in Year 8), with a further 180 starting in September 2023. This position presents an excellent opportunity for candidates who are potentially looking to gain experience to progress into teaching or for those who aspire to work within the area of SEND and/or Social and Emotional Mental Health.  We have also recently moved into a modern, state-of-the-art building offering stunning views of the countryside, coupled with a convenient access to several motorway links.

To work at Edgar Wood Academy, you must aspire to be an outstanding colleague, with a willingness to share and learn. We wish to appoint someone who will help us to make a positive difference to the lives of young people in the borough. You will need to have a flexible approach as you may be required from time to time to set aside subject interests to consider the broader welfares of the School and your own professional development.

We promise a supportive and enjoyable working environment and the resources needed to carry out the role to the highest standards, including a bespoke professional development programme to support you with your future career aspirations.

To apply for this position, please complete the Altus Education Partnership Application Form and send it by email to: recruitment@altusep.com

Closing date: Noon on Friday 9th June 2023

Interviews: w/c 12th June 2023

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

In accordance with the recommendations set out in KCSIE the Trust carries out online searches on shortlisted candidates.
