About the School:


The Shires is made up of three sites all within a 15-minute drive of one another. The sites consist of two Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools and three Residential homes.  We help care for and support 33 young people aged 11-19 and 8 young adults who have been diagnosed with Autism and may have accompanying learning disabilities, behavioural problems or medical conditions.

About the Role:


This role will require the successful candidate to supervise and support individuals or groups of pupils with Special Educational Needs, including Autism, within their Educational, social and leisure activities. We want to promote as much personal and social development as possibile to give the children and young people every chance to make their way in the world. You will need to consider their safety and wellbeing at all times.


The Children we support may be non- verbal or have complex additional needs. You will be expected to contribute to the management of pupil behaviour in all settings and assist in the preparation and supervision of activities in the home and school, under the direction of the team manager. We would really like candidates who are creative and can use their initive to come up with different activites for the chidren to be involved in. You must be able to support senior staff in writing activity plans and carrying out risk assessments and also ensure that all recording and reporting is up-to-date and completed accurately.
