Job overview

We’re committed to creating opportunities which enable our young people to reach their potential and as such, we’re looking for enthusiastic and talented TeachingAssistants to complement and reinforce our teaching and learning offer across the academy.

Working in partnership with, and under the direction of our class teachers and senior leaders, you’ll provide support for various curriculum programmes and guide our young people to overcome their barriers to learning.

Support may be provided on a whole-class, specific cohort, or one-to-one basis both in and outside of the learning space, sometimes encountering challenging behaviour and a wide range of abilities and needs. These could be specific learning needs, engagement issues and/or challenges with social, emotional and mental health and will truly mean that no two days are the same. It’s therefore imperative that you possess a high-level of emotional maturity and resilience and can adapt to changing priorities.

You’ll do all this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values and whilst role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours.

As a colleague at Nightingale you’ll work within a diverse learning community, striving to deliver an outstanding working and learning experience for all. Therefore, a genuine passion for working and making a real difference in the community is essential.

So, if you thrive on making a real difference to the lives of children and young people, seeing them develop and achieve their potential, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Co-op Academy Nightingale is an inspiring place to work and learn and as part of the Co-op Academies Trust, aims to secure excellence in all aspects of its work.

Nightingale is one of twenty-five schools in the Trust, four of which are primary schools within the East Leeds locality. Whilst all schools in the Trust demonstrate a strong commitment to co-operative values and principles, the close proximity of the academies in East Leeds in particular has helped to facilitate co-operation and reinforce our belief that these values and principles are crucially important. It is therefore vital that applicants are willing to fully embrace these, embedding them into the learning experiences for pupils and using them to drive up academic standards further. The Trust is a successful and highly collaborative partnership of schools committed to raising the educational ambitions of the communities which it serves.

The academy has many strengths including the dedicated staff who are truly committed to the pupils, their families and the community, an Ofsted ‘Good’ judgement, and countless wonderful, hardworking and inspiring pupils. We are also fortunate to have the support of one of the most supportive co-operative Trusts in the country.

What makes our Trust unique is that we are sponsored by the Co-op Group. That close relationship means that we benefit from all of the business expertise that has seen the Co-op grow to one of the most respected, ethically driven and successful businesses in the country.

To date the Trust comprises of twenty-five institutions and spans the breadth of the educational spectrum, from primary and secondary academies, to colleges and special schools. Pragmatic in our approach to growth, we work closely and cooperatively to improve all of our academies.

Improving results and impressive Ofsted inspections have led to schools requesting to join the Trust which is now well on its way to realising its ambition of forty academies by 2022. We look forward to the opportunities that this will bring to our staff, young people and communities.
