About the Role

Some roles are jobs. This is an opportunity to genuinely change lives.

At Higford School, we support students with Autism and additional needs to build confidence, develop independence and achieve outcomes they never thought possible. We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team and help our students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

No two days are the same. One moment you could be helping a student engage in learning, the next you'll be celebrating a breakthrough in communication, confidence or independence. Every day brings new challenges, but also some of the most rewarding moments you'll experience in a career.

Whether you currently work in education, care, youth work, childcare, residential support or another people-focused role, if you're passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

What you’ll do:

Supporting students with Autism and additional needs throughout the school day

Helping students engage with learning and achieve their individual goals

Encouraging communication, confidence, independence and social development

Providing emotional support and positive behaviour guidance

Building trusted relationships that help students feel safe and succeed

Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to support student progress

Supporting learning experiences both in the classroom and across the wider school environment

Who we’re looking for:

Caring, patient and resilient

Passionate about making a positive difference to young people's lives

A strong communicator who can build meaningful relationships

Calm and confident when supporting students through challenges

Positive, proactive and able to work well as part of a team

Committed to helping every student achieve their potential

A full UK driving licence is required.

Experience in education is welcome but not essential. We encourage applications from those with backgrounds in care, support work, youth work, childcare, health and social care, or other roles supporting children and young people.
