Teaching Assistant (KS1-2)

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and resilient primary school teaching assistant to assist the class teacher as directed, including supporting  individuals and small groups of children inside and outside the classroom, and contributing to the planning and preparation of lessons to ensure the all-round development of each child. The candidate  must have an ability to assess students' progress, good literacy and numeracy skills and be a keen member of the school community.

Essential:

  • Experience of working with Primary School aged children as a Teaching Assistant or similar role

  •  Safeguarding and Health and Safety knowledge

  •  Organising and managing groups and individuals 

  •  Enthusiasm and desire to help children learn and develop as independent individuals 

  • Ability to put children at ease and guide them in working purposefully towards a shared goal by setting clear objectives

  • have experience of working ideally with the National Curriculum in England/Wales (applicants with experience of teaching the curriculum in Scotland or Northern Ireland are welcome to apply);

  • Be able to apply bhevaiour management strategies in line with the school policy

  • experience of working successfully in a team 

Desirable:

  • recent experience working with students in Key Stage 1 and 2;

  • NVQ3 qualification or equivalent 

  • Experience of working with second language learners

  • be a native level speaker of English;

  • willingness to undertake training to further expertise in specific areas related to the needs of the pupils

We have become a well established British School within the Valencian Community and have achieved great things over a short time, the most recent being the renewal of our BSO accreditation.

The school follows the British Curriculum, with an interest in providing a holistic approach to teaching, alongside teaching the main parts of the Spanish curriculum. Contracts  are for a 12 month period, with a 3 month trial period.  TAs have a 40 hour a week contract that runs from  Monday - Saturday.  TAs  work from September to July and form an essential part of our summer school programme.
