The Shires is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, and is an independent special school based in the village of Stretton (just off the A1 north of Stamford). The Shires caters for students aged 11 to 19 who have autism, and who may have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The home and school occupy the same site and the care and education staff work closely together to achieve outstanding outcomes.   

We are looking to recruit a new teaching assistant to join our team:  

Ideal candidates will have obtained an NVQ 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning or equivalent and be prepared to register for a relevant Level 3 qualification. In additional ideal candidates would ideally have at least 3 months experience within a similar school setting together with experience of working with children with challenging behaviour and autism.  

The hours are Monday to Friday commencing  at 08.30 until 17.30 over 39.2 weeks of the year.   

A full driving license to drive students in our people carrier and a willingness to participate in all activities including swimming are essential.
