The Lakes School is seeking to employ a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Student Development Team as soon as possible. The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to the wider pastoral curriculum available to our SEND students and other students who require support but may not have an EHCP. Experience in delivery of entry level qualifications, alternative provision, learning through the outdoor environment and leadership opportunities is desirable.

The ability to build resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence in young people is essential, as is a sound understanding of the specific needs and barriers for SEND children.

The successful candidate will be required to work 1 to 1 and with small groups and to deliver a variety of programmes across four key areas including English and Maths, specific targeted interventions, developing social & emotional aspects and building resilience & confidence.

If you believe that SEND children should access a balance of academic support and personal development programmes, then this could be the post for you.

We are a high achieving, fully comprehensive school; a dynamic and innovative centre at the heart of the Lake District where all pupils are encouraged to climb their own mountains. The Lakes School was graded good in all areas by OFSTED in November 2019.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS and health check along with two satisfactory references. Applications will only be considered when submitted on a fully completed school application form. All applicants will be considered on the basis of their suitability for the post regardless of age, sex, race or disability.

Application forms are available via the school website (https://thelakesschool.com/the-lakes-school-cumbria/vacancies/) TES (TES jobs) or alternatively from Mrs Chantelle Barnes, Headteacher’s PA, by emailing employment@lakes.cumbria.sch.uk.

Closing Date: Friday 16 June 2023 at 12 noon

Interview Date: Monday 26 June 2023

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by Tuesday 20 June 2023.
