Contract Type: Permanent, full time

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new special school, part of the Unity Schools Partnership multi-academy trust, which opens in September 2022. You will have the chance to join the founding team of the school, contributing to shaping provision to transform the lives of generations of children: you will make the difference and be the difference.

At the beginning of the school journey, we are looking for individuals with a passion for SEN to join our team and make an impact on the learning of our students. The successful applicant will need to be able to work flexibly, have excellent behaviour management skills and be prepared to assist pupils on a one to one basis as well as in small groups and whole class settings.

Sir Peter Hall School will educate young people between the ages of 8-16 who have a wide range of Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many of the pupils may also be on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas of Suffolk. The school will also be adding to our network of special schools, alongside Sir Bobby Robson School, Ipswich, The Bridge School, Ipswich and Churchill Special School, Haverhill. In addition to this, we have been approved to open a new special school in Romford.

You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer advice and guidance as the school moves forward under their leadership. Significant training and development are available through opportunities for professional development, research, and collaboration between schools and across phases.

For more information, to arrange a visit or an informal discussion about the role please contact the Headteacher, Catharine Wensley by email CWensley@sphschool.org
