Haberdashers' Abraham Darby is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic TEACHING ASSISTANT to join our learning support team. The successful candidate will work under the instruction of the SENCO to work with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), supporting pupils both in the classroom and within our SEMH provision/hub.

This post is for 33.25 hours per week, working 38 weeks per year (term time only) and we are looking to appoint someone to start in January 2022.
The qualities that we will be looking for in the successful candidate include:
• Teaching Assistant qualification Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools or Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) - or working towards
• Numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ level 2/GCSE in Maths and English
• Ability to relate well to pupils and adults
• Ability to organise own work
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding Academy roles and responsibilities.
• Experience of working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (desirable)
• Experience of working with or caring for children / young people or relevant age (11-18) (desirable)
Haberdashers' Abraham Darby is an 11-18 mixed school which opened in 2008. We are part of the Haberdashers' Adams’ Federation linked with Haberdashers’ Adams in Newport. We are located within a short distance from the picturesque River Severn and Ironbridge Gorge, not far from Telford and Shrewsbury, with good motorway links to both the M6 and M54. Moving into a new state of the art, technology rich building in July 2012, our facilities and working environment for both pupils and staff are excellent.
