Roehampton Gate School are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team! We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Learning Support Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

About the school:

Roehampton Gate School (RGS) is a school for young people aged 9 - 16 and offering a Post 16 Campus from 16-19 with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. We aim to deliver the highest level of education and care according to individual needs in a safe, positive and structured environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • Work under the guidance of the class teacher and senior staff to deliver tailored learning activities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum

  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and care plans

  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

  • Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and daily routines

  • Support pupils during transitions, break times, and off-site activities

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

  • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and Aspris policies at all times

The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting in a classroom setting, have a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) which is appropriate to the teaching and learning environment of learners and young adults.

Roehampton Gate School is a purpose-built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders, in particular Asperger's Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. It is situated next to the Hospital Roehampton. The school opened in April 2010.

The spacious and modern building has been specifically designed to accommodate up to 40 young people with autistic spectrum disorders and Asperger's Syndrome.

The classrooms are set up for specialist subjects including information technology, art, food technology, science and music, together with exclusive sensory and therapy rooms/suites or studios.

Roehampton Gate School is also uniquely placed to benefit from the extensive therapy and specialist mental health services provided at the Hospital Roehampton. Staff and students will also work closely with the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and experienced educational psychologists
